MBA Guest Speaker Lorraine Dodd
Lorraine Dodd, who has recently retired as an Investment Director with Rathbone Investment Management visited the Management School as part of the current Guest Speaker Series. Hosted in the Brett Building, MBA students were given an insight into Lorraine’s past business experience and how this has led to her current interest in ethical and sustainable investment.
During her talk, Lorraine addressed social issues that businesses face by asking questions such as ‘Where does company responsibility begin and end?’ She explained that in order for corporations to be part of society and create sustainable business practice, companies need have plans for the good and the bad times as well have an engagement with all stakeholders involved.
Lorraine ended her talk with a lively discussion where MBA students responded to the examples that Lorraine supplied of both the problems and the benefits corporation practices face when it comes to sustainable and socially responsible investment.
