Organised by the Mangement School's Brett Centre for Entrepreneurship, the final Entrepreneurs Monthly Meet-up of the academic year is run in collaboration with Employability Solutions and HYPE (Helping Young People Everywhere) Merseyside.
This month's Meet-up has a social entrepreneurship focus with founders Claire Cook from Employability Solutions, and Matt Houghton from HYPE talking about starting-up, running and scaling successful youth-based social enterprises.
Employability Solutions which is based in Garston, South Liverpool, is a registered independent school offering alternative secondary education for young people that thrive in a smaller and more nurturing setting.
All the social enterprise’s education programmes are flexible, individually tailored and provide young people with the opportunity to explore a range of vocational pathways that set the individuals up for the future.
The organisation wishes to inspire a generation of happy, healthy and employable young people with equal access to opportunities in education, as well as in home, work and community life.
Wirral-based HYPE runs workshops and activities for teenagers in deprived areas during school holidays that utilised community centres and empty shops, as well as in primary and secondary schools.
The social enterprises educates younger generations with positive values that leads to a better future for everybody. The organisations aim/mission is to transform the landscape of opportunities for young people and strengthen local communities.
Since its formation, it has used its extensive expertise to transform the lives of disadvantaged individuals in the Merseyside region, ultimately striving to be a catalyst for social change.
There will be lots of informal networking with FREE refreshments and food all set within the beautiful surroundings of the Grade II-listed Blackburne House in Liverpool’s famous Georgian Quarter.
The Entrepreneurs Monthly Meet-up
The Entrepreneurs Monthly Meet-up is a University HEIF-funded initiative run Brett Centre runs in collaboration with six colleges and universities in the Liverpool city region:

- Liverpool Hope University
- Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts
- Liverpool John Moores University
- University of Liverpool
The event seeks to connect and expose both entrepreneurial students and graduates to the very best entrepreneurs and independent businesses in the Liverpool City Region and beyond.
