Professor Prudence Wong
Can you tell us about your role and any research you are involved with?
Currently, I am a Professor in the Department of Computer Science, University of Liverpool. I graduated with a PhD from The University of Hong Kong. I also hold an honorary Professor position at National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan). I am serving as Chair of EPSRC ICT Strategy Advisory Team and have been a member of the team since 2020. Previously I have served as Chair of London Mathematical Society Computer Science Committee from 2017-2023.
My research area is on design and analysis of algorithms, mainly to develop efficient algorithms to solving computational problem with provable performance in terms of optimality, time and space complexity. More specifically I have developed energy efficient algorithms for general computation as well as for optimisation of energy cost in electricity grid demand response management. This research area is at the interface with mathematics in particular in combinatorial optimisation. I enjoy solving challenging mathematical problems. I am also interested and published papers in other interdisciplinary areas like computational biology.
