Viability of mega-recharge projects

What do you believe to be the main issues that might affect the viability of a mega-recharge intervention?
Are there key environmental concerns? For example, is the uncertainty regarding the fate of recharged sediments too great? Are they important habitats or designated sites that could be affected?

Are the barriers to implementation economic and social.  Are mega-recharge projects simply too costly, or does the costing not include the multiple benefits?  Do you feel coastal communities do not have sufficient confidence in solutions that work with natural processes, i.e. beaches and wetlands?
