Nuclear Fuel Accountancy with via HPC and Anti-Neutrino Data
Student: Ron Collins
Supervisor: Jonathan Coleman
Reactor core MC simulations (“reactor codes”) are a crucial tool in the design and operation of nuclear power plants. This project’s aim is to produce predictions of the anti-neutrino flux using ‘reactor codes’ and verify them using data from the Liverpool anti-neutrino reactor monitoring program and other international efforts to measure the relevant spectra . These codes are heavily reliant on empirical data. The simulation will allow verification of the anti-neutrino flux via a full isotope model of the reactor core.
