Meet Grace: our Liverpool Literary festival mascot
As well as being an iconic symbol of our city, Grace (named after the majestic ‘Three Graces’ buildings that define the Liverpool skyline), is made entirely from book print and flies all over the city promoting the festival.
Meet the artist
This beautiful origami Liver Bird was created by local artist, Hannah Ng (@JoyfulArray).
Hannah Ng is a Liverpool-based designer-maker, who crafts handmade paper ornaments using traditional origami folding techniques.
Hannah has been passionate about art and design from an early age. When she was just five years old, she was taught to fold her first paper crane and became fascinated by how a single piece of paper could be transformed into a three-dimensional bird.
Since that first encounter with origami, she persevered to teach herself and to experiment with various folding techniques. This allowed her to discover new paper creations, before eventually going on to study Textiles at the University of Central Lancashire.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, her work is inspired by its hectic city life and colourful culture, and infused with her own quirky sense of style and expression.
