Annual UK Eye Genetics Group (UK-EGG) Meeting Advances Eye Health Research
Eye and Vision Science Department researcher, Neeru Vallabh, hosted the UK Eye Genetics Group (UK-EGG) annual meeting in Liverpool recently, bringing together leading experts from across the country to share ground-breaking research and discuss the future of genetic eye health.
Organized by Neeru and colleagues, the event was a resounding success, including engaging seminars and oral presentations, a poster session, and concluding with a series of awards.
"The energy and dedication of everyone involved were truly remarkable," said Neeru. "Our collective efforts in advancing eye genetics are paving the way for innovative treatments and improved patient outcomes."
The meeting featured presentations from University of Liverpool speakers and guests from institutions across the UK, including Nikolas Pontikos, Chloe Stanton, Sarah Coupland, Helen Kalirai, Meenakshi Choudhary, Meekai To, Georgina Hall, and Kevin Hamill. The speakers covered a range of topics from the latest genetic discoveries to the practical applications of these findings in clinical settings.
One of the highlights was a heartfelt account from the patrons of the Cure Usher charity, who shared their personal experiences and emphasized the importance of ongoing research in providing hope and solutions for those affected by genetic eye conditions.
Neeru extended her thanks to the organizing team, including Michelle Walsh, Kathryn Mulhearn, Keri McLean, Moira Lorenzo López, Matteo Posarelli, Matt Roney, and Ceniz Zihni.
