About Critical Approaches to International Criminal Law (CAICL)

This research cluster reflects our broader commitment to exploring the intersections between international criminal law and various global issues.

International criminal law has emerged as a key area within international law, gaining prominence through institutions like the International Criminal Court and various tribunals. These bodies have captured public interest, and have become an area of discussion among researchers.

Many researchers, activists, and practitioners have highlighted biases and blind spots within international criminal law, particularly concerning its role in maintaining global power imbalances.

The Critical Approaches to International Criminal Law research cluster is dedicated to exploring these themes. As part of the broader network, the cluster provides a platform for in-depth reflection and critique of international criminal law. This initiative unites researchers and practitioners interested in understanding and addressing the complexities of international criminal justice.
