Biography
Zanele is a solicitor having practised in family law before joining academia in 2015. She completed her LLM in Legal Practice at Nottingham Trent University and became a PhD candidate in 2018.
Research
Zanele's research interests are in family law and the regulation of same-sex relationships in Africa. Zanele's research is interdisciplinary and examines the criminalisation of same-sex relationships, LGBT+ rights and human rights.
Thesis title
Same-sex Marriage in Sub-Saharan Africa: The Barriers to the Realisation of Marriage Equality.
