Biography
Oliver obtained his LLM (General) Masters of Law at the University of Durham, for which he received an overall Distinction with his thesis containing empirical analysis on the future of artificial intelligence in legal process and algorithmic judicial decision-making. He became a PhD candidate at the School of Law and Social Justice in February 2021 to continue his keen interest in 'Access to Justice' in family law.
Research
Current research interests lie in family law and child law, exploring how budget funding cuts following the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 have devastated peoples access to legal representation and are forced to seek pro-bono alternatives, and unfortunately, on many occasions, go through court process alone. This research includes an examination into the prevalence of lay representatives and free legal assistance providers.

Outside interests
Oliver is a huge Star Wars fan and has never lost a pub quiz on the subject. He enjoys reading true crime books, only drinks espresso coffee and always has pizza for dinner on Saturdays.
