Keith Arrowsmith

 

Biography

Keith is a charity law and governance specialist. He qualified as a solicitor in 1995 and is now one of the senior partners at Counterculture Partnership LLP, a unique collective of professionals who provide legal, finance and project planning services for those who work in the cultural, creative, and education sectors. He leads a team of 13 lawyers, deals with regulatory compliance matters for his firm, and is approved as a trainer by his regulator. Keith’s legal practice is ranked as one of the UK’s top 20 charity law firms by the independent publication, Chambers & Partners (2023). He co-wrote and updates the Clore Leadership’s handbook: Governance in the arts and museums.

Keith was awarded a first class Law and Management joint honours degree by Keele University in 1992, and a Masters by Research: Governance Codes and Charity Law 2019 (Sheffield Hallam University). Keith helps produce Sheffield’s literature festival, Off the Shelf and the Children’s Media Conference.
Actor Joel Fry plays Keith in the 2023 Netflix film of the Channel 4 series, Bank of Dave.

Charity law and governance, especially the appointment of trustees, succession planning and diversity.
Keith is a member of the Charity Law & Policy Unit.

Thesis title

Working title: Transparency, board membership and good governance for registered charities in England and Wales.
