Biography
Kate was appointed a Graduate Teaching Fellow and PhD candidate at the School of Law and Social Justice in September 2021.
Kate completed her LLB from the University of Liverpool in 2017 and her LLM from the University of Cambridge in 2018. Kate is a non-practising barrister, having been called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Inner Temple in 2019. Prior to beginning her PhD she worked in legal practice for two years.
Research
Kate's research interests lie in constitutional law, specifically legislative scrutiny. Her PhD focuses in particular on the scrutiny of emergency legislation in times of crisis.

Research Summary
This project investigates legislative scrutiny in the UK constitution. It examines scrutiny across various forms of law-making and in different legislative and political circumstances. It also investigates different kinds of Bills including ‘constitutional’ Bills, fast-tracked Bills and Bills intended to incorporate international treaties entered into by the Executive.
