Biography
Jaydon was appointed a Graduate Teaching Fellow and PhD Researcher at the School of Law and Social Justice in 2022. He teaches Law of the European Union.
Jaydon obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Liverpool and a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Law, Liverpool. Prior to beginning his PhD, Jaydon worked as a Research Assistant on various projects, including ‘The Lancet-Chatham House Commission on Improving Population Health Post- COVID-19’ and Alcohol & Human Rights projects.
Research
Jaydon’s research interests lie principally in the fields of EU public health, consumer protection, advertising, and trade law. His thesis focuses on the regulation of the marketing of alcoholic beverages and brands at both EU and national levels to promote better health. He has a particular interest in the regulation of unfair and aggressive commercial practices which exploit vulnerable consumers, such as children and those with substance-related disorders. He is also interested in the marketing of other unhealthy products and brands, legal epidemiology, corporate influence on health policy, and the reduction of European health inequalities.
Jaydon is a member of the Law and Non-Communicable Diseases Unit and actively supported the Unit’s conferences. He is also a member of the EU Law at Liverpool research cluster.
