Biography

Aoife obtained her Postgraduate Law LLM in International Human Rights Law from the University of Liverpool. Her focus here was on international law, use of force, and human rights law. She became a PhD candidate and Graduate Teaching Fellow at the School of Law and Social Justice in January 2021.

Research

Aoife’s research is broadly on the relationship between international law and capitalism. She particularly focuses on the use of force, collective security, critical and Marxist approaches to Law, and Spectres.

Research Summary

This research focuses on the concept and practice of collective security systems. Exploring this by using the insights from critical and Marxist approaches to build a materialist understanding of collective security.
