Trainee opportunities at the Government Legal Department

Pupil Barristers and Trainee Solicitors have previously been recruited through a single annual Government Legal Profession Legal Trainee Scheme recruitment campaign. However, in 2024, the recruitment campaign will be split. The April recruitment campaign will offer Trainee Solicitor places, while a separate Pupil Barrister recruitment campaign will launch later this year. This change aligns with the Bar Council’s timings, as they advertise the posts on the Pupillage Gateway in November, with the application window opening in January 2025.
