Outreach

The Liverpool Law School welcome applications from talented students from all backgrounds and are committed to Widening Participation (WP) in higher education by encouraging people from non-traditional backgrounds to apply to study with us. We also offer a range of talks, presentations and workshops to schools and colleges, designed to support students’ progression into higher education. These can be delivered either on campus or within your school or college.

Our School’s widening participation strategy reflects our ‘social justice’ ethos and is a core part of our identity. We believe that higher education plays an important role in advancing social mobility and equalising opportunities.

Our staff and students work closely with the University of Liverpool’s Widening Participation and Outreach team in running summer schools, visit days and outreach activities for prospective applicants from low-participation backgrounds.

Continuing Support

Liverpool Law School would like to thank our supporters and Alumni community for their support for our projects and placements. We are always keen to secure opportunities or sponsorship for our widening participation projects which help selected students meet the incidental costs of studying a law degree. If you are a practitioners at a local law firm and would like to find out more about this scheme please contact our Recruitment Team.

Law Taster Days

Our Law Taster Days are designed for Year 10, 11 and 12 pupils. The Law Taster Days offer an exciting introduction to university life, the study of law, and the work of the Liverpool Law Clinic. The Taster Days are organised with Schools/Tutors for groups of pupils and not for individual students.

Pathways to Law programme

Liverpool Law School recently partnered with The Sutton Trust to deliver its ‘Pathways to Law’ annual programme to support students aspiring to a career in law. Pathways to Law is a pioneering initiative designed to widen access to the legal profession and is open to students from the Merseyside area in Years 10 and 12. Students will participate in a programme of legal workshops and undertake a week’s work experience placement with a Liverpool law firm as part of the programme. For more information contact the Widening Participation and Outreach Team.

Both the seminar and subject talks were very interesting and engaging for the students and gave them a true insight into university life.
