Celebrating a successful semester at the Liverpool Law Clinic
As the semester draws to an close, we’re reflecting on the amazing achievements of our Liverpool Law Clinic over the past few months.
Since September, the Clinic has provided over 220 advice appointments, delivering vital support to individuals and families who are unable to otherwise afford it. This semester, we also welcomed 112 module students and 200 volunteer students, whose hard work and dedication have been integral to our success.
We have expanded our public legal education initiatives, with the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Team providing training to parents on education provision. Meanwhile, the Family Team, in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University, has held information sessions for parents considering applying to court regarding their children.
The SEN team also piloted two innovative projects: one supporting parents with complaints to the Local Government Ombudsman, and another focusing on school exclusions. These initiatives have opened up new avenues of support for families navigating challenging situations.
The Family Team continued to pilot their support desk at Birkenhead County Court, providing invaluable assistance to parents attending court without legal representation. At the same time, the Immigration and Nationality Team maintained their full representation services while also hosting drop-in sessions to help clients meet the Home Office’s electronic account requirements.
This semester also saw a vibrant Welcome to Clinic event, hosted by our Student Clinic Forum. It was a fantastic opportunity for new students to get to know the Clinic and kickstart their journey with us.
After a well-deserved winter break, we’ll be ready to return in Semester 2, energised and eager to continue making an impact. A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Clinic’s successes this semester—your hard work and dedication truly make a difference.
