The Heilbron Society is a Liverpool Law School community hub which brings together students, alumni and staff on a regular basis through meetings, events, online communications and apparel.
The Heilbron Society celebrates and connects our law alumni and current students with a series of events organised by the Director of Education in collaboration with the student societies in law (including the Advocacy Society, the Diversity in Law Society, the Solicitors’ Society, and the Law Society). Every Heilbron Society event is co-hosted with a student society.
The Heilbron Society provides a collegiate and supportive forum for thought leadership, book launches, readings, networking with employers (including alumni), and other activities. Amongst other things, it organises informal papers on alumni (e.g. Mrs Justice Steel, Mrs Justice Heilbron, Lord Nicholls of Birkenhead, the Earl of Birkenhead, Lord Justice Sellers, Mr Justice Lynskey, etc), legal theory, legal biography and legal history by the Liverpool Law School community.
Mrs Justice Heilbron, University of Liverpool alumna (LLB and LLM), was the first woman to serve as a judge at the Old Bailey and the second to be appointed to the High Court.
The Heilbron Society also hosts general discussion and informal feedback events, social events, film and play nights.
The Heilbron Society helps bring closer links between the Liverpool Law community. Liverpool Law alumni include:
