What made you study at McMaster?
The main appeal to study at McMaster for me was the location and the opportunity to travel and explore North America. Although McMaster is very different to Liverpool - it is a campus university which took some adjustment for me, it is well equipped with facilities such as a brand-new gym, libraries and on-site services such as a doctor’s. As a Law (LLB) student, McMaster offered me a wide variety of module selections from French, Economics and History, to name a few. I enjoyed this opportunity to broaden my academics and develop different skills which has prepared me well for my final year of Law studies.
What did you enjoy most about studying at McMaster?
As mentioned above, I enjoyed the wide range of module opportunities provided at McMaster and the different methods of assessment. Also, I felt there was a strong international student/exchange student community which made setting into life at McMaster much easier and finding people who are like-minded. McMaster is located an hour from Toronto which I really enjoyed; it is very well located for travelling North America. I was lucky enough to travel to locations such as New York, Vancouver, and Seattle just to name a few, which enriched my experience and was a big highlight of my year.
Would you encourage someone to choose McMaster for their year abroad?
If you are interested in exploring North America and are looking for a different university experience to Liverpool, then McMaster is a great choice. If you would like to experience something similar to an American “college” experience, then McMaster is also a good choice. I would encourage anyone to embrace the differences in university life and not be afraid to try something different. The year will pass so quickly, and you’ll blink and be back at Liverpool!
