What made you decide to study at NAU?
I decided to study at Northern Arizona University because I’ve always wanted to experience living in the US, having travelled there before, and to travel to a part of the States I’d never visited before. I also wanted to experience a vastly different university system like that in the USA and a different pace and style of living.
What did you enjoy most about studying at NAU?
I absolutely loved my year at NAU for so many reasons! The campus and location are beautiful and great for getting out into nature. Flagstaff had some of the friendliest people I’d ever met, and I learned so much about American and especially Native American history and culture. But for sure, my favourite parts were the opportunities I had to travel and explore both Arizona and the rest of the US, and the friends and connections I made during my time there, as well as the new sense of confidence and independence I gained. I found some of my favourite places and people in the world, and that’s definitely what I enjoyed most.
What would you say to someone to encourage them to choose NAU as their year abroad option?
It’s a unique and beautiful place, and the people and atmosphere at NAU are really great. The university is good and it’s a completely different way of life to that in Liverpool - in a really wonderful way! The opportunities for adventure and fun both at NAU and across the US are endless. The locals and home students are so welcoming, and I cannot encourage people enough to go for it! Go Lumberjacks!
