Call for Papers
26-27 September, 2014, Liverpool University
Following on from the successes of previous British Crime Historians Symposia from 2008, the British Crime Historians Network invite contributions to our 2014 conference.
We would like this to be an opportunity for all those who work on the criminal justice history of the British Isles and its former colonies, or on other topics illuminated through criminal justice archives, to participate. We would like therefore to invite papers on any aspect of the history of criminal justice in the British Isles. We are particularly keen to have papers by postgraduates, and panels on specific themes or topics.
We are also especially keen to accept papers which:
New directions in the study of criminal justice history
Innovations in methods and dissemination
Public histories of crime and their impact
Interdisciplinary perspectives
Crime and policing across the British Empire
The deadline for (200-word) abstracts for (15-20 minute) papers, panels (of 3-5 speakers) is June 30th 2014. Please submit to britishcrimehistorians2014@gmail.com. For further information, contact Zoe Alker (zoealker@liverpool.ac.uk) or Lucy Williams (lwill@liverpool.ac.uk). We will distribute a preliminary version of the programme prior to the event.
