Russian is an East Slavic language native to the Russians in Eastern Europe. It is an official language in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, as well as being widely used throughout the Baltic states, the Caucasus and Central Asia.

    RUSS901 - Russian Beginners 1

    Choose this course if

    • You have no knowledge of the language at all.

    Equivalent language level (CEFR)

    • Beginners - A1

    RUSS902 - Russian Beginners 2

    To take this module, you need to have one of the following:

    • Completed Russian Stage 1
    • Have completed a 40 hour course equivalent to A1 CEFR
    • Completed one year of Russian at School
    • The ability to hold a very basic conversation in Russian about yourself (work, studies, hobbies), asking basic questions and understanding the answers.

    Choose this course if

    You have studied the language formally for one course only - approximately 60 hours, or up to GCSE.
