After a successful run of screenings in 2016, academics and Phd students from Modern Languages and Cultures will be co-curating a new series of films, showing at Small Cinema Liverpool.
The series kicks off at 7pm on Thursday 9 February 2017, when Dr Tom Whittaker will introduce 'Volver' (Spain, 2006) by Pedro Almodovar.
Starring Penélope Cruz, 'Volver' draws inspiration from Italian neorealism to address themes such as sexual abuse, loneliness and death as experienced by three generations of women from an eccentric family.
This will be followed by three more screenings in February and March 2017:
