On 2nd and 3rd June 2025, the University of Liverpool will host a Seminar of Literacy Translation (Catalan-English), organized in collaboration with the Institut Ramon Llull.
This prestigious seminar reinforces the university’s role as a leading center for translation in UK higher education and underscores its dedication to fostering language and cultural studies, with a particular emphasis on the promotion of Catalan Studies. It also provides an excellent platform to promote the MA in Translation and engage undergraduate students in the Department of Languages, Cultures and Film.
The seminar will offer both practical and theoretical sessions on literary translation and will be led by three distinguished experts:
- Louise Johnson.
- Peter Bush.
- Laura McGloughlin.
Staff from the department will also deliver talks on translation during the workshop, offering participants the opportunity to gain insights into the university’s expertise in the field of translation and professional practice.
A rigorous and professionally focused selection process will identify 10 participants, who must translate a literary text from Catalan into English as part of their application. These participants will be students or alumni (graduated since 2022) of Catalan Studies from universities across the UK and Ireland.
It is anticipated that some students from our MA in Translation program may also join certain workshop sessions.
