The Edgar Allison Peers Symposium 2025
The Department of Languages, Cultures and Film at the University of Liverpool holds the Edgar Allison Peers Symposium each year, in honour of one of the former Gilmour Chairs of Spanish.
The symposium is dedicated to the furthering of the teaching and research of Hispanic Studies, broadly conceived, and this year, the symposium will combine an exciting range of events, including:
- A film screening with an innovative new film by emerging filmmakers from Spain
- In-person Q&A with the filmmakers
- Hands-on workshop activities for local sixth-form schools
- Postgraduate (PGR) panel focusing on digital innovations in research in Hispanic Studies, see below:

As part of this year's Peers Symposium, this panel will discuss how tools such as digital communication, social media, information access and database creation could be used to enhance research practises and explore the expression of the self in literary, sociopolitical or gendered perspectives.
