The German student-led newspaper at the University of Liverpool returns to kick off another exciting chapter in Scausländer’s journey.
Scausländer Zeitung is back for its fourth year! In October 2024, the newspaper was taken over by new final-year students Eleanor Hoyle, Teresa Pretismuir and Jakub Rzucidlo. Since then, they have been working hard to revamp both the website and the social media pages, aiming to improve engagement and provide German students with entertaining and accessible reading material. Building on the strong foundations laid in previous years, the online newspaper has retained its original structure whilst embracing modern updates.
The website officially re-launched on 16 November 2024. Jakub and Teresa worked tirelessly to include new features, such as a search button, and to recognise a wider range of article categories to ensure more relevant content is easily accessible. They also redesigned the overall layout, giving the site a polished and user-friendly appearance. Eleanor oversees social media, and as part of this role, the Instagram page (@scauslaenderzeitung) underwent a significant redesign to better reflect the group’s vision and enhance its visual appeal. Within a short period, the page’s following grew from around 90 followers to over 120, with increased engagement on posts and greater interaction with the newspaper.
On 4 December 2024, in the heart of language study at the University of Liverpool, the Language Lounge transformed into a hub of celebration and conversation. The launch party marked the fourth year of Scausländer, bringing together contributors, faculty members and readers to celebrate the journey, share articles and unveil exciting announcements.
