Liverpool is home to one of the biggest metropolitan music festivals in Europe! Liverpool Sound City will take over the Baltic area of the city this weekend (3 - 5 May), with more than 250 gigs spread across various venues; from acoustic and urban artists at cafés and bars to headlining bands and DJs in warehouses and clubs.
Liverpool is a truly cosmopolitan city in character and Sound City is no exception. Here's our pick of top international bands and artists to see during the festival, from Brazil, Italy and Portugal...
Autoramas - Brazil
Hailing from Rio de Janeiro, Autoramas promise a blend of bubblegum 60s rock, New Wave and Garage punk along with pop choruses that are made for the dance floor. They've been playing around the world since the 90s and now it's Liverpool's turn to hear what they have to offer! Don't miss them kicking off the weekend on Friday 3 May.
Ginerva - Italy
Originally from Turin, Italy, singer and songwriter Ginerva takes her own experiences as inspiration - her songs becoming almost like diary pages. Expect themes of love, loss and hope from this fearless solo artist.
Paraguaii - Portugal
Blurring the lines between post punk and psych-rock, Portuguese band Paraguaii have been described as "psico-tropical-pop-with-a-taste-of something-that-sometimes-feels-like-rough-blues" by VICE. Check out their show on Saturday to see what your take is on their genre-defying sound!
