Jose Luis Henares publishes in Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research A
Jose Luis Henares, LA3NET Fellow hosted by GANIL , France presents the results of his project developed within LA3NET in a paper recently accepted for publication in Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research A. The paper Hot-cavity studies for the Resonance Ionization Laser Ion Source discusses results of Jose Luis’ studies into laser ionization.
The Resonance Ionization Laser Ion Source (RILIS) is an important technique in many Radioactive Ion Beam (RIB) facilities. GISELE is an off-line RILIS test bench to study the implementation of an on-line laser ion source at the GANIL separator facility. The aim of the project has been to determine the best technical solution which combines high selectivity and ionization efficiency with small ion beam emittance and stable long term operation.
The GISELE off-line test bench is now fully operational at GANIL, and improved efficiency by enlarging the diameter of the ionizer was observed. Future experiments with longer tubes are in preparation.
This work was supervised by Dr. Nathalie Lecesne, LA3NET Steering Committee member.
