The University of Strathclyde swell LA³NET numbers to 34

The University of Strathclyde is the latest addition to LA³NET joining as an adjunct partner. The University is based in Glasgow in Scotland, UK and was awarded UK University of the Year in 2012/13.

The Strathclyde Intense Laser Interaction Studies (SILIS) group within the University is already engaged in collaborations with network partners CLPU and so this will help to build further links across the network.

The SILIS group conducts both experimental and theoretical research into high-power laser-plasma interactions and is internationally recognised as a leading group in the development and application of high power laser-driven particle accelerators. Research areas include both electron acceleration driven by plasma waves and ion acceleration driven by strong electric fields in dense plasma.
