Advanced Manufacturing
Making more of our discoveries
Advanced manufacturing projects have brought together experts from various engineering and scientific departments across the University.
Our teams are building on previous research and developing technologies and products in fields such as:-
- functional and structural materials
- additive manufacturing
- laser engineering
- all branches of fluid mechanics
- signal processing, electronics and automation
Projects are producing benefits for many sectors, including the electronics industry, aerospace, dentistry, energy and pharmaceuticals.
Technology examples include new improved dental devices, better methods for detecting crude oil in water, novel techniques for laser surface heat treatment, and systems for testing aircraft components more reliably.
