Installing Stream Capture
Stream Capture is being rolled out by Computing Services to teaching rooms across campus. You can also install Stream Capture on your staff PC or laptop for use outside of scheduled teaching activities; for example, to prepare teaching materials using the tool.
Stream Capture should not be installed in teaching rooms which are not already enabled. This is because equipment requirements vary from room to room and these requirements are being satisfied by Computing Services during the planned rollout. Your own computer should have at least 4 GB of RAM for Stream Capture to work properly.
To install Stream Capture for use on your staff PC or laptop:
- Open Install University Apps from the Start Menu and navigate to Utilities > Stream Capture
- You may be prompted to install other applications which are required for Stream Capture, e.g. .NET Framework - click on Yes to install them.
- You will be warned that you will need to reboot your computer once Stream Capture has been installed - click Yes to continue.
- You will see two dialogue boxes to show the progress of the Stream Capture installation:
- Once Stream Capture has installed, you will be prompted to reboot your computer - click on Yes to reboot (make sure you have saved all of your work before you do):
Once your PC/laptop has rebooted, you should see a Stream Capture icon on the desktop - double click on this to launch the application.
