Bookmarks
The search tool within Serengeti is powerful and will allow you to find folders or documents with ease, including searching within the text of documents.
If you frequently open specific documents these will be added to your My Documents menu for you to access quickly.
However, there may be other documents and folders that you wish to use regularly but on a less frequent basis. In these circumstances you can bookmark (or 'favourite') a folder or document to return to it at a later date.
The steps below outline how to add a folder to your 'favourites' by clicking on the yellow star icon. Once you have logged in to Serengeti:
- Click on Workspace
- Ensure the drop down menu for the search options is set to by Name
- Enter the student ID
- Click on the search icon
- Once the search is complete, you will see the student's folder listed in the search results. Click on the folder name to continue
- You can add then add any subfolders to your 'favourites' by clicking on the yellow star icon near the top of the screen under Folder Actions
You will see a confirmation message to indicate that the folder has been added to your favourites
- If you wish to bookmark an individual document then click on the subfolder and then click on the Document Properties icon (magnifying glass) next to the specific document name you wish to bookmark
- You may be prompted to download the file - click Cancel to close the dialog box, if so
- Click on the yellow star icon near the top of the page to add the document to your favourites
You will see a confirmation message appear to indicate that the document has been added to your favourites
- To view your bookmarks, click on My Documents
- Select the document or folder from the section headed Favourites
When you click on one of your bookmarks you will be taken either to the folder, as illustrated below, or to the specific document to download
- To remove a bookmark from your favourites, click on the red X next to the document or folder in your Favourites list
