IT Services would like to wish all staff and students a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Here are some quick reminders about where you can find support over the festive season.

What’s happening with IT Services? 

Help over Christmas

University IT services will be operational during the Christmas and New Year period. All critical systems are resilient, and we will continue to monitor and respond throughout to any system issues. The IT Service Desk phone line and chat service will transfer to our out-of-hours team between 5pm on Friday 20 December 2024 and will re-open at 8am on Thursday 2 January 2025. The IT Service Desk drop-in centre in Sydney Jones Library will be closed throughout this period. Furthermore, the deadline for submitting posters is Thursday 19 December at 12pm (midday), to be collected by 5pm on Friday 20 December 2024. The poster printing service will then reopen at 9am on Thursday 2 January 2025

IT Services’ X (formerly Twitter) account to close: 31 January 2025

IT Services is closing its departmental X (formerly Twitter) account as of 31 January 2025. Notices, updates, and news will be shared with the University community via our estate of online and social media platforms. This move forms part of the department’s evolved engagement strategy and will see IT Services deliver more relevant content to our engaged audiences.

What do I need to do? 

Throughout the holiday period, email enquiries and self-service tickets will not receive a reply before 2 January 2025.  If you need help urgently during this time, please contact the out-of-hours team by phone on 0151 794 4567 or by clicking the live chat link in your auto-reply message.
