We have a range of hardware options available to support our staff and students.

Laptops 

We offer standalone Windows 10/11, HP laptops. 

Dictaphones 

Dictaphones are available to record meetings and transfer any audible files to your laptop. These MP3files can also be uploaded and transcribed to Word in Office 365. 

Note: please ensure you have the permission of all people present if recording a meeting or one-to-one session. 

Digital Stethoscopes 

For medical students who have a hearing impairment these stethoscopes amplify sound. The Littmann brand of stethoscope is available to loan. 

Roger On and Receiver (Neck loop) 

The Roger On system is designed to improve speech understanding and communication for individuals with hearing loss, especially in challenging listening situations. It consists of a transmitter (Roger microphone) and a receiver (Roger receiver) that work together wirelessly to enhance sound quality and clarity. 

Hearing Neck loops 

These devices work in conjunction with the infrared hearing system in our lecture theatres.

Look for this sign on the lecture theatre door which indicates the lecture theatre has the infrared system in place.

Noise reduction devices 

These devices are aimed at reducing the background noise in environments allowing the listener to focus in on the main speaker. The different devices available are linked here: 

Ergonomic Keyboards and Mice 

A variety of options are available from trackball mice, vertical mice and ergonomic keyboards which eliminate strain and discomfort. The best option to suit your needs can be discussed with a one-to-one meeting with the Assistive Technology Specialist.
