Proposals for a Project for Recovering Arts for Reconciliation Practice
The Research Advisory Committee meeting on February 24, 2020, discussed the importance of recovering arts for reconciliation (AfR) practices.
Key topics included:
- Challenges in archiving arts-based peacebuilding efforts
- Ethical concerns around memory preservation
- The tendency to focus on new projects, leaving past arts initiatives underfunded or forgotten.
The committee highlighted the ephemeral nature of performances and the need for archiving both documents and embodied memories. Future objectives discussed included exploring the potential value of an AfR archive and how it could benefit communities involved in peacebuilding and reconciliation efforts.
