Offord Road Books have announced the publication of the debut poetry pamphlet from Institute of Irish Studies PhD graduate Seán Hewitt.
Seán, who won a Northern Writers’ Award in 2016 and the Resurgence Poetry Prize in 2017, is a Leverhulme Research Fellow with Trinity College Dublin and a fiction reviewer for the Irish Times.
Head of Department for the Institute of Irish Studies Dr Lauren Arrington said of Lantern:
This beautiful pamphlet of lyric poems draws from a long tradition of Irish and British nature writing, which explores the human body’s relationship to the landscape.
Hewitt’s voice is distinctive, while it draws from Alice Oswald, Mark Doty, and Fiona Benson. His eye and ear are attuned to the nuances of the natural world and help us see our environment in a new light.
