University of Goeorgia Athens forms one of the three institutions which make up the State of Georgia’s public higher education institutions. Based in the college town of Athens, 2 hours from Atlanta, this long established partnership has generated in a decade over $25m of funding collectively in research income. It regularly hosts UoL students at UG and PhD level.
Collaborations with UoL span life sciences, including cell biology, bioinformatics and infectious diseases. Collaboration in the social justice theme, includes urban planning, slavery and human trafficking both historical and contemporary. Arts collaboration includes Music and Digital Humanities, whilst Physical Sciences includes joint research in Advanced Materials and Computer Sciences.
The University of Liverpool and the University of Georgia have established a joint fund to deepen and extend collaborative research links between the universities.
The fund covers travel and subsistence costs for staff to undertake short-term visits in both directions with the objective enabling collaborators to develop outputs and outcomes that leverage external funding.
