Studying with us
The International Summer School (ISS) offers a range of academic modules to either complement or expand on your existing area of study. Our subjects relate to both the global and the local, and can incorporate field trips, group work and experiential learning. We teach in small groups and place value on individual experiences.
Please note that applications for the 2024 International Summer School are now closed. Information for the 2025 programme will be available soon.
Dates
This year's programme will take place across June and July 2024. The deadline for applications has now closed.
Students have the option to study with us for a period of either three or six weeks.
Our modules
The International Summer School is built on our engaging sessions, led by dedicated academic staff. We offer a diverse range of credit-bearing modules which reflect the best of the University of Liverpool's teaching and research areas. Whether you choose to follow your existing path, or try something new, you can be sure that you will expand your horizons and connect with like-minded students from across the globe.
Students with the International Summer School can choose to diversify their learning over three or six weeks. For every three week period of study, you will select three five-credit modules (to a total of 15 credits).
English communication skills pathway
The International Summer School, in collaboration with the University of Liverpool's English Language Centre, also runs a three-week language course, designed to help students develop all aspects of their English proficiency and enhance communication skills for work and study.
This pathway is non credit-bearing, but students will enjoy full integration and access to the ISS social programme, University campus, and future alumni benefits.
Alumni benefits
When you graduate from the International Summer School, whether you are leaving with internationally-recognised credits, or you have opted for the non-accredited pathway, you will become a member of the University of Liverpool's alumni network. This means, alongside other benefits, that you will be able to take part in in-country events, connect with other graduates, and wear your alumni badge with pride.
Should you decide to return to Liverpool for postgraduate study, our alumnis are eligible for significant discounts on their tuition fees.
