As part of the latter I embarked on a research project on Headache at the Institute of Neurology, UCL and that’s where my passion for neurology and research started. I studied medicine at King’s College London, where a charismatic neurologist sparked my interest in neurology. Around this time, my mother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease (PD). During my undergraduate training at the University of Liverpool, I specifically remember and particularly enjoyed the Neurology rotation. Spurred on by this clinical interest, I sought out a number of Neurological research projects, both as Special Study Modules and subsequently as an intercalated Neuroscience MPhil. My research has focused on the assessment of outcomes of treatment with antiepileptic drugs in patients with epilepsy and my MPhil investigated the factors influencing patient reporting of adverse events associated with antiepileptic drugs.  Read more

Since starting medicine, I have always wanted to combine clinical work with public health research and evaluation. I completed my undergraduate medical studies in Edinburgh in 2002. After a 6 month SHO job (equivalent to F2) in Nottingham I started a GP rotation in East London.
