Challenge and Change in Popular Music
Posted on: 8 August 2022 in Posts
This summer, the Institute of Popular Music and Department of Music host Challenge and Change in Popular Music, an international conference organised in collaboration with the International Association for the Study of Popular Music.
As the world continues to grapple with COVID-19 and the resulting social and economic crises, the conference responds to contemporary global challenges and opportunities. Presentations will address a wide range of themes, from papers examining musical responses to global pandemics, environmental change, and political upheaval, to those reflecting on structural changes in the music industries and in music education. The presenters include twelve researchers affiliated to the Institute of Popular Music (IPM), while other IPM researchers will act as Chairs.
Celebrating Liverpool’s status as a UNESCO City of Music, the conference will take place at the city’s new landmark venue, the Yoko Ono Lennon Centre at the University of Liverpool.
