About
My research interest lie in host-microbe interactions with particular focus on microbiome analysis and the effects on microbial infections. I have a background in genomics analysis of human associated gut microbes as well as an interest in pathogenic microbes. I completed both my Undergraduate and Masters degrees here at the University of Liverpool before undertaking a PhD at the University of Queensland in Brisbane Australia which I was awarded in 2019. I came back to UoL in 2018 to start my first PDRA position where I focused on reducing pathogen colonisation and transmission in Broiler chickens through microbiome transplants.
My current role as a PDRA at the University of Liverpool is to investigate the differences between mouse models that are commonly used to assess Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections and therapeutics. The main aim is to develop a deeper understanding of how any potential differences might affect Pseudomonas infection dynamics and therefore treatment efficacy when tested in these models. This should help to inform other work within the group which focuses on development of in vitro models for novel therapeutic development.
