About
Richard is a veterinary graduate from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London. After graduating he spent 1 year in small animal practice. In 2000 he was awarded an MSc in neuroscience by research from the University of Edinburgh. After some time locumming, he returned to the University of Edinburgh and completed 3 years of post-graduate training in veterinary pathology. After the residency he stayed at Edinburgh for a PhD project in virology, and his PhD was awarded in 2010. Richard arrived in the University of Liverpool in 2010, and became a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Pathologists in 2013. Richard gained the ECVP certificate in forensic veterinary pathology in 2020. Richard's main research interests are in infectious disease but he collaborates on a wide variety of projects with staff across the clinical departments.
