Personal Statement
Matthew graduated as a veterinary surgeon from the University of Nottingham in 2013. After working in clinical practice in the UK and Australia, he joined the Leahurst Farm Animal Practice in 2017 to complete a residency in Livestock Health and Welfare and a PhD focussing on genetic and metabolic aspects of non-infectious lameness in dairy cattle. Matthew is an RCVS Specialist in Cattle Health and Production and an EBVS European Specialist in Bovine Health Management. After working as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Nottingham, he returned to the University of Liverpool as a Lecturer in the Department of Livestock and One Health where he divides his time between teaching final-year veterinary students during their clinical rotations and research relating to the health, welfare, and productivity of cattle.
