From Manchester airport you can take a train (£17 two ways; approx 1 hour and 15 min) or a coach (£13.50 two ways; approx 50 min), as both have stations located in the airport. They will bring you to Liverpool Lime Street station, respectively to the Coach station, both in Liverpool city center.

Alternatively, with advanced booking, Delta Taxi company from Liverpool (telephone: 0151 922 7373) offers rates of approx £50 from Manchester Airport to Liverpool city center, and the ride takes approx 45 minutes. Simply picking a taxi at Manchester airport for Liverpool city center would cost around £90.
