What should I do first?

Having an issue that is affecting your studies? Follow the steps below to find a resolution.

Urgent Out-of-Hours Support is available if you are struggling and need immediate help.

  1. Speak to your supervisor: Your supervisor is there to support you throughout your PhD. Often speaking to them about your well-being can seem daunting, but they are there to help you.
  2. Secondary supervisor: If you cannot speak with your primary supervisor, you may have an additional supervisor that you can speak to
  3. Department Director: Your DD is there to support everyone in the department, find yours on your department contact page
  4. School Director: Like the DD, your School director is there to support the school you belong to
  5. Faculty Director PGR and Deputy Director are there to support you and your experience in the university
  6. School-based Research & Impact Teams: Provide support for research and impact activity at your school level
  7. Faculty PGR Team: Provide support for funding and training across HSS
  8. Faculty Research & Impact Team: Provide high-level support for research and impact activity, including PGR
  9. SWAG: Student support is there to help you if you need support while studying
  10. Guild of Students: The guild provides advice to help you through your time at the University
