Pint of Science 2024: Call for speakers and volunteers

The University of Liverpool has announced the return of the Pint of Science Festival in 2024, marking the eighth consecutive year.

Pint of Science is a global festival celebrated in cities worldwide, providing a unique platform to share the latest issues being tackled and questions being answered in labs and universities, in an interesting and accessible way. The Pint of Science Festival runs over 3 days in Liverpool pubs and the events regularly draw over 400 attendees, creating an excellent opportunity for researchers to connect with the community.

Call for Event Speakers and Shots of Science

The University is inviting staff and postgraduate students to participate in Pint of Science 2024 by becoming event speakers or contributing to Shots of Science. Event speakers, open to everyone at PGR level and above, will present a fun and engaging15-minute talk on their research. Shots of Science, available to Masters/PhD students and early career researchers, involves a fast-paced 2-3 minute presentation.

The Pint of Science team encourage staff and students from all Faculties to apply to take part, the event is open to people from all disciplines such as health and life sciences, engineering, physics, maths, chemistry social sciences and more.

No prior experience is necessary and support is available for developing engaging talks. Those selected will have the chance to deliver their presentations at various pubs during the Festival. Additionally, selected participants will be invited to attend a Presentation Skills workshop led by Dr. Steve Cross, a seasoned public speaker and stand-up comedian.
