Digital Messaging Services
A Digital Messaging Service (DMS) is a mass notification system than can send emergency text messagers to people who have subscribed to the service.
The main use of the DMS is to send alerts to people with hearing impairments or who use ear protective equipment that the fire/emergency alarm has sounded in the building they are using. In limited situations the system may also be used to alert users to alarm tests, emergency exercises, or other emergency situations relating to the building.
It may be beneficial that all users of a building register for the system in order to know when an alarm is or is not a test. Specifically users who may benefit from using the service include Building Managers, Fire Marshals and Security personal; Event and Conference organisers; or Commercial Service managers.
The DMS is FREE to use, and can be used by students, staff, visitors, contractors or clients.
How it works:
- Users text a location code and will receive a reply confirming they are registered.
- The text will contain a link where users can choose an alert preference including text, email or voice.
- When the alarm is activated the user will receive an emergency alert straight to their mobile phone.
How to register:
- Text the buildings CODE to 07860017165
