Liverpool Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies
The Liverpool Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies (LCMRS) is an interdisciplinary hub for research development, support, and networking that brings together colleagues in medieval and early modern studies from several departments in Liverpool and higher education institutions across the North West of England (Chester, Liverpool Hope, Lancaster, Manchester).
The Centre aims to:
- Promote research excellence
- Support the generation of research income
- Enhance the Faculty’s research culture through interdisciplinary collaboration across the University, working closely with other research centres and groups, such as the Religious Studies Research Cluster, Eighteenth-Century Worlds, Centre for Study of International Slavery, and the Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology Receptions Research Group
- Contribute to a vibrant research environment to the benefit of members, guests and research students alike.
The Centre is home to the successful MA in Medieval and Renaissance Studies and is a focal point for postgraduates (MA and PhD) mainly from the departments of History, English, CLAS, Irish Studies and Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology. LCMRS has an excellent track record in terms of publications, research development, support, and research council funding, as well as in forging international links and partnerships.
LCMRS is particularly proud of its strengths in postgraduate taught and postgraduate research recruitment and training, staff mentoring, and raising the profile of Medieval and Renaissance Studies at the University of Liverpool both nationally and internationally. Its current Director is Dr Anna French.
