Dr William J. Ashworth (History), Professor Harold Mytum (Archaeology) and Dr Robert Philpott (Archaeology) have been given a contract by the Liverpool city region’s museum collections.
The museums include; The Atkinson and Sefton Open at Southport, The Prescot Museum, The Catalyst Science Discovery Centre and Museum in Widnes, The Norton Priory Museum and Gardens in Norton, The World of Glass Museum in St Helens, The Port Sunlight Museum and Garden Village and The Victoria Gallery and Museum, University of Liverpool.
The collections and heritage sites of these museums will be assessed and then situated within a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) context. This will involve weaving life stories of famous and not so famous individuals and places through the collections.
The origin and connections between all the institutions will be researched to help form a more coherent structure and identity. It is hoped that this research will help to strengthen the arts and heritage network within the Liverpool city region. The contract will start in early January 2017 and be completed by the end of March 2017.
