Life Sciences in the Liverpool City Region

Liverpool City Region (LCR) has recently been named by the UK Government as a Life Sciences Investment Zone.

With the potential to drive more than £800 million of government and private investment and create 8,000 jobs, the new 10-year Investment Zone promises to deliver new state of-the-art facilities and business and innovation support, while training a new generation of talent.

LCR is committed to becoming a prosperous and economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable city region, with a strong focus on social value, unlocking opportunities for local people, and the improvements to health, life chances and wellbeing.

This Investment Zone will take advantage of the presence of a leading Russell Group university producing an annual pipeline of 5000 graduates in health and life sciences disciplines who are keen to stay in a vibrant friendly city with affordable housing and great transport links.

Health Innovation Liverpool will provide the new infrastructure needed to accelerate health and life science research and innovation across the whole translational pipeline and act as a regional hub to supercharge the region’s economy.
